DIY Wednesday- Decor {Door Garland}

Recently moving into a new house, my boring plain room needed some decorating, I had found so many garland designs and decided to make one for my self, only something simple. But as I made one I thought why not also make a DIY tutorial to share my experience with others on how simple it is to make, although it is a little time consuming; measuring and cutting, it is well worth it!

Steps:
 1. First start with any pattern print page (it doesn't matter which pattern because there is no particular order) Divide the page into 3 equal segment using a ruler and pencil mark a dot every 7cm across the page and

New Fashion BUY{New Blue printed button up shirt}

A few days ago I went for a shopping trip and found this wonderful looking chambray shirt only for $17 at Kmart, it sure is something different to what I usually wear, but I thought it can't hurt to try something new, right? The light denim blue colour and white cross design print was something nice and I found I could wear it with many things :)

My sister and I also took a mini photoshoot in the backyard I was going for something sad and serious and then my sister got bitten by a million mosquitoes.

Last week I got a fringe...

I've been told that getting a fringe was out of the question, for two reasons:

> a cowlick
                                                                    > a small forehead (something I don't really like to talk about)

But I wasn't going to give up until I got one, so I decided to show the hairdresser a picture. This being the picture:

Hannah Simone "New Girl"

And all she said was "okay" and I couldn't believe my ears and with that she cut it. After that I have been very happy, all I've recieved since I got it was compliments and at one stage I was unrecognisable by my friends :) My only problem is keeping it together because of the cowlick it keeps flicking the hair away. But the solution to that is blow drying it, I've tried straightening it, it looked fine but it's harder to keep the fringe together.

Yesterday I bought...

I'm known to be a shopaholic, the second I recieve money I spend it. (I have no idea how to save). So yesterday I bought (and I always happen to find specials) 2 lace up flats for the price of 1, each pair usually being $15, I got each for $7 (saving $1), I think the aqua ones match with my new jeans and the dark blue will go with dark coloured jeans. Recently my dark brown shoulder bag had ruined, so I thought why not get a new one (and I can also use it for school), this I bought it for $15 from $25 and last and not least my floral jeans which I love, I got them at $10 from $24. I found so many other things but I thought that was enough for one day.

BOSS orange GLASSES

I got some glasses at the end of last year because they reduced some of my headaches and I could see better in general. I tryed on so many, I have no idea how the old Asian man who was letting me try them on, had so much patients, I tryed on about 20 pairs and in the end I chose one and got free sunnys which I gave to my mum. ( By the way the girl in pink is one of my younger sisters- you can see a bit of my piano behind her).

Sunday outfit- {Going pastel with stripes}

I want to start a new series called Sunday's outfit, its where I post about the outfit I wear on Sunday to church. I always feel very comfortable in jeans, regardless of how much I love dresses (the reason I love dresses is beacause they are an outfit themself, no need to decide what top to wear with either jeans or a skirt). So anyway here's todays outfit.

Found Box of pattern

I've been meaning to write this post a long time ago. A few weeks back, on the way home from church as I was in the car with my mum as she was driving, I was staring out the window and saw a whole box of sewing patterns (just around the corner from the church) and sewing stuff being thrown out. My automatic reaction was "Mum! Stop! Stop!", which freaked her out (of course), I picked up the box and took it :) When I got home I checked out all the patterns, there are some many patterns from all different decades but mostly from the 90s. I have listed some onto etsy that I thought I wouldn't use. Here they are below:

Christmas Time = Time for a new {Dress}

Christmas Time is near and for Christmas very one needs a new outfit to wear for the special occasion.  So I have decided (well it was my Mum's idea) to finish off the dress that I had started earlier this year and add on some extras features to make it look much better :)

On the left is how the dress looked before (found in the previous post here) and the image on the right shows that the dress has been hemmed. To be honest I have been so confused and afraid of hemming because I have never hemmed before, I did so much research and everything I found overwhelmed me. So in the end I found a very simple tutorial which I adjusted to myself (found here). Although the waist gathers didn't work too well, only because I self-drafted the skirt pattern and obviously made it too small to make big gathers in the skirt to fit the bodice.

There (above) you can see the difference, it has become shorter and I am very happy with my end result. All I did for the dress and lining raw edges was finish it off with zigzag stitch because I don't have an over locker yet....hahahaha (evil laugh) nah only kidding, anyway for the lining I

Etsy Feature: {Kelly Stahley Art and Design}

I would like to introduce everyone to a wonderful Graphic Designer/Blogger/Etsy Shop Owner: Kelly Stahley. Today's feature is about her and her creative process, don't forget to visit her Blog and wonderful Etsy Store to find out more!

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you make/sell in your shop?

My name is Kelly, I'm 22 years old and graduated from art school about a year ago. My Etsy shop started out as my place to sell my jewelry designs, but recently I've incorporated my graphic design services as well. I love the jewelry designs I currently have but I'm definitely more passionate about art and design work, so I'm trying to promote my graphic design through my Etsy.

2. What inspired you to start Kelly Stahley Art and Design?

I majored in Fine Art in college. Once I graduated, I quickly realized there aren't many people who are going to hire a painter. To be honest, I totally freaked out, not knowing what I was going to do with my life. I love all aspects of art and knew I needed to do something artistic, but I wasn't going to be making a living off painting alone. That's when I became interested in jewelry design. I'd buy tons and tons of supplies and make all different types of pieces. I always knew about Etsy but I never thought anyone would actually buy anything from me. One night I listed one feather ring I created, and by the time I woke up in the morning I was thrilled to see someone actually bought it! I then got very serious about Etsy and wanted to include all of the services I can offer. So currently I have about half the shop filled with jewelry and the other half with design work.

3. Do you have a blog? Do you sell/showcase your work anywhere else?
