DIY Wednesday- Decor {Door Garland}

Recently moving into a new house, my boring plain room needed some decorating, I had found so many garland designs and decided to make one for my self, only something simple. But as I made one I thought why not also make a DIY tutorial to share my experience with others on how simple it is to make, although it is a little time consuming; measuring and cutting, it is well worth it!

Steps:
 1. First start with any pattern print page (it doesn't matter which pattern because there is no particular order) Divide the page into 3 equal segment using a ruler and pencil mark a dot every 7cm across the page and

New Fashion BUY{New Blue printed button up shirt}

A few days ago I went for a shopping trip and found this wonderful looking chambray shirt only for $17 at Kmart, it sure is something different to what I usually wear, but I thought it can't hurt to try something new, right? The light denim blue colour and white cross design print was something nice and I found I could wear it with many things :)

My sister and I also took a mini photoshoot in the backyard I was going for something sad and serious and then my sister got bitten by a million mosquitoes.

22/November, marks the 50th anniversary since the JFKennedy assassination, here's a collage in memory of the beautiful Jackie O& JFK and Jackie's wonderful style.The Kennedy has become of a great interesting topic for me, I recently went to the library and bought a pile of books on the Kennedys and bought the book 'These few precious few day'- The final year of Jack with Jackie' by Christopher Andersen, I'm only at the beginning but it is written very well, it really captivates the reader, into the early events of the 1960s. Also I have borrowed the book 'Mrs Kennedy and me' by Clint Hill, I just love that book, it is also written very well and is very interesting as you get an outside view of the Kennedy's and the friendship between them it just lovely :) I do strongly recommend them to anyone interested in the Kennedy's.

Found Box of pattern

I've been meaning to write this post a long time ago. A few weeks back, on the way home from church as I was in the car with my mum as she was driving, I was staring out the window and saw a whole box of sewing patterns (just around the corner from the church) and sewing stuff being thrown out. My automatic reaction was "Mum! Stop! Stop!", which freaked her out (of course), I picked up the box and took it :) When I got home I checked out all the patterns, there are some many patterns from all different decades but mostly from the 90s. I have listed some onto etsy that I thought I wouldn't use. Here they are below:

{Bargin Buy- Chiffon}

LAST week when I went to K-mart I found a collection of button up chiffon top's in some great colours of blue, pink, black, white and purple. But the thing is I'm not the type to wear see-through clothing, but I thought what the heck, why not try something new. So I picked up the purple one, tried it on and LOVED it! And that's not all I loved, it was only $10 from $39. I wore it to church last sunday, check out below the whole outifit.

Feature- Hold Your Horses

I’m sure every girl can agree that seeing someone else wearing the same outfit as you is a worst nightmare come true and with mass produced products and brands being sold in popular stores, it isn’t an uncommon situation to be stuck in. We all know that the awkward “Hey, nice dress…” comment is really just a cover up for the underlying feeling of frustration and the secret promise you make to yourself that you will never wear that dress again.
This is what sparked a small fire within 18 year old Australian student, Lima Rose, who felt that she and every other woman should be able to wear quality clothing that no one else in the world owned. With her newfound feeling that she had to make a difference, backed by years of knowledge about the clothing industry, came the arrival of her own fashion label Hold Your Horses.  Together with her mother, they share over 40 years’ experience designing, pattern-making and sewing exclusive garments for high end designers, manufacturers and private clientele. Their aim is simple: to create top quality, one-off or limited edition garments at affordable prices.
Founded in mid-April 2012 as a Facebook store, their fan base has rapidly grown to around 1,200 likers from all around the world – and it is still growing. HYH then opened their online Storenvy store in June, creating a market largely in the U.S.A. and Europe. In the future, they hope to stock garments in local stores or in a small store of their own.

Their amazing creations range from dresses, to vintage recreated shorts, to onesies, with prices for their products being anywhere between $4AUD and

Get Smart Get Inspired

Polyvore displays clothing of great price but why buy at expensive prices, when you can purchase similar or exact products for a cheaper and more convenient price.This is a typical outfit I would wear; casual and for any occasion (except for for the handbag, I'm not really a fan of, I would have a over-the-shoulder bag but this one fit the collage). Winter is here and it's freezing everyone to death (and making everyone sick) but when you are wearing the right clothing you can stay warm. The source of my inspiration is from Get Smart not from agent 99, but from Maxwell Smart's trench coat he sometimes wore. (below collage)

Sewing Floral 60s

I love the 60s and find it as a very inspirational fashion era, everything of the 60s was lovely. Have you wanted to go back in time just to wear the fashion of a particular decade? Well I have and do. I bought a sewing pattern, 'Butterick b5607', recently from spotlight and because I am still learning in sewing I bought an easy one, which specifically had easy labelled on the back, I read through the pattern instructions and when they said easy they really mean it. I collaged a source of inspiration for my self, I really want to create a bright and colourful dress which can be worn to any occasion. Well here is all the designs the pattern offer, it's really only two style of dresses but with extra features on each one:

5 Winter Essentials!

My name is Talia Kaur and I am a fashion columnist at a local newspaper. I am also studying a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Journalism) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (France) at the University of Technology, Sydney. I am passionate about the fashion industry and am working towards becoming a fashion journalist or a freelance fashion writer in the magazine industry.

Fashion column:

5 winter essentials!

1. Knitted jumpers
Meet winter’s most popular fashion piece. There’s nothing more comfortable than a cozy knitted jumper and it’s become an absolute must-have this cold season. The great thing about them is that they come in so many different styles and colours – from light pastel preppy ones to dark patterned drapey ones – so it’s impossible not to find a perfect option for you. A soft cotton or wool jumper will look great with almost everything so don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild this season and team them up with different textures, fabrics and patters. You could pair a pastel blue knitted jumper with some floral trousers for a feminine look. If you feel like going for something with a bit more edge, team a leather skirt with a bright knit and add a thin belt at the waist – it’s right on trend yet so comfortable.

2. Faux-fur coats

DIY Shorts In A Matter Of Hours

All thanks to Charlie from instagram for this wonderful tutorial! (To find Charlie on facebook and/or instagram keeping reading below.

The sun has finally started to make a presence in the past couple of weeks; the high street is stocking the top summer trends, so surely its time for a wardrobe spring clean? I think not! Why should you pay £10 or more of your hard earned cash on a new pair of shorts when the answer is lying right there in your old jeans that you’ve just put in a bin back. Dig them back out and see how within the hour they can be transformed into shorts that are as good a new.
