DIY Wednesday- Decor {Door Garland}

Recently moving into a new house, my boring plain room needed some decorating, I had found so many garland designs and decided to make one for my self, only something simple. But as I made one I thought why not also make a DIY tutorial to share my experience with others on how simple it is to make, although it is a little time consuming; measuring and cutting, it is well worth it!

Steps:
 1. First start with any pattern print page (it doesn't matter which pattern because there is no particular order) Divide the page into 3 equal segment using a ruler and pencil mark a dot every 7cm across the page and

Blog Feature- Single Crochet Stitch Tutorial

Leona Sutton (found on instagram)  has been wonderfully kind and
offered to show me how to crochet with this easy to follow tutorial
with step-by-step picture. Thank you so much Leona!
Crochet is dead simple to pick up and a lot easier than knitting as you can easily correct your mistakes.  One of the most important things to remember when starting out is to keep tension on the wool - not too tight or too loose!

Stage One:

Make a loop knot with the wool, making sure you have a tail.  Pull the loop through the hook and wrap the wool around the hook.

Stage Two:

DIY Shorts In A Matter Of Hours

All thanks to Charlie from instagram for this wonderful tutorial! (To find Charlie on facebook and/or instagram keeping reading below.

The sun has finally started to make a presence in the past couple of weeks; the high street is stocking the top summer trends, so surely its time for a wardrobe spring clean? I think not! Why should you pay £10 or more of your hard earned cash on a new pair of shorts when the answer is lying right there in your old jeans that you’ve just put in a bin back. Dig them back out and see how within the hour they can be transformed into shorts that are as good a new.

Printing on fabric!

Thank you to Rustic Cottage Interiors, I found how to print pictures on fabric! It is so easy and fun :)  (http://rusticcottageinteriors.blogspot.com.au/2011/06/printing-on-fabric-photo-tutorial.html) While printing I found that my ink jet printer wouldn't accept the fabric and kept saying paper jam, so I tried our other print (which isn't ink jet) and it worked as well. However I am unsure if the print might rub off when washed, I am yet to experiment. If you would like a print request, please comment below! Available in my Etsy shop soon.

Bewitched 1960s Print

Equipment:
- material (any of your choose, I chose canvas)
- spray adhesive
- 1 printer paper
- scissors
- an ink jet printer (however I didn't use one)

Mother's Day Cushion

I didn't know what to do for my mum for mothers day and because I have been trying different techniques in making cushions, I decided to make one for her and try something new for my self. I didn't have filling for the cushion, that's why the cushion looks saggy, however it turned out well, I did my first automatic buttonhole with my sewing machine and made it rectangle instead of a square. Here's how it turned out:

Pastel Chalk Hair

So I'm gonna dye my hair soon and I'm doing dip dying, purple and wanted to try if dip dying would suit me, so I found a temporary way to view this. I found a link to colour your hair with chalk pastels (http://crazetexture.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/hair-chalking.html?), it easy and fast to do, though I found it tends to work better with people, who have light coloured hair. However here is how mine turned out. (My before after dip dyed hair up soon!)

Hope you Like!

Fancy Twirly Buns

I found this really interesting tutorial of how to make three bun twirls and it looks really easy and pretty to do. I give full credit to who I got it from and I think this hairstyle can be done for a formal event or just for fun. I has straight forward pictorial of what to do. If you do decide to try it, please post a photo and get link it to this post for me to see. Have fun!

Basting stitch

Basting is a temporary stitching (a.k.a tacking), which holds two or more layers of fabric in place until it has been stitched together properly. Basting can be done two ways by hand or by using a sewing machine, if doing it by hand, simply use a straight running stitch and the basting is to be done by machine, use a long-length straight stitch.

Circle Skirt with Bow

I found some instructions to make a circle skirt with a bow and decided to adjust the instructions to suit me. ( http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/easy-skirt-with-a-fluffy-back ) I had decided to make a skirt for my younger sister, who is 5 and is quiet little. I forgot to write down the measurements for next time because I made up the instructions along the way, it took me a few hours as I am still a beginner, however I am getting better. This skirt is suitable for anyone of any age! Here is a picture of the finished piece:
